Dizziness and balance disorders can have a number of causes such as virus or infection; basilar artery migraine, reduced blood supply to the inner ear due to arterial spasm; Meniere's disease, severe vertigo caused by increased fluid pressure in the inner ear; benign positional vertigo, floating particles in the balance bone; and fistula, a small hole in the inner ear membrane which results in fluid leakage to the middle ear.
Patients that are staggering, tumbling,or falling, and falls resulting in injury, are evaluated using NASA developed Equitest assessment system.
The center offers a wide variety of hearing aids. One of the most exciting devices is the cochlear implant. After an initial visit with an audiologist, patients are scheduled for a fitting of their new hearing aids. Every patient receives a free 30-day trial that includes follow-up appointments for adjustments.
